Proposed law targets underground goods, businesses

New legislation introduced Monday aims to crack down on underground economies.

The bill aims to curb counterfeit goods that are coming into California and prosecute those selling the fake items.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said a pilot program that cracked down on counterfeit goods like sports gear in Sacramento has been so successful he wants to take it statewide.

The one segment of retailers specifically left out of this crackdown is the underground marijuana market. But, Becerra said to stay tuned on that front.
